Safety First

Each day we will start in the morning going over safety practices.  Most of these issues will be repetitive, but we feel they are simply good reminders preceding the activities each day.  With safety in mind, this is the main reason we want you to bring your own well fit safety clothing and steel toed boots.  If you would like to bring safety glasses and ear protection that is okay, otherwise we can provide them.  Other basic safety issues will have to do with sharpening of saws and hand tools, keeping work areas free of wood scraps, tools not being used or other items in the path of ongoing work. 

Much emphasis will be placed on being observant and aware of what others are doing when moving logs into various positions.  We will demonstrate the proper use of ladders and ways you can avoid injuries.  Other safety issues will be discussed when you get to the class.
