Getting Started

Most of our clients have purchased land and have in mind what they want in a home. Some may even have rough sketches. If you've decided on a floor plan, you may be ready to meet with our Architect/designer and start with the preliminary plans and estimates. Our Architect has done over 600 custom log home plans. Much of the design changes and coordination can be done by Fax & e-mail. At this point, there is a deposit required. This gets us started and also covers the expenses for an onsite visit and evaluation of your property.

Once the design process and specifications for the project are complete, a down payment is required for logs and for the start of peeling and construction of the log portion in our building yard. A proposal and schedule of events is provided.

Once the log work is completed, it is then ready to be disassembled, loaded on trucks and shipped to your site. The foundation and sub floor is done just prior to the log work arriving (the less time the sub floor is exposed to weather the better). The walls are then reassembled and insulated, and log roof members installed. All electrical holes and boxes are cut in. At this point, the log portion of the project is complete and ready for one of our crews, or local contractor to do the closed shell – roof decking, insulation, roof coverings (shingles, shakes, metal roof), windows and doors.

"After 35 years, I still enjoy being on the job every day. It also means a lot to my clients that I have everyday oversight of their home." -Greg Anderson
